St Bathans is a quaint, remote (40 minutes north-east from Alexandra; 30 minutes north-west from Ranfurly) remnant from the gold rush, known for its "haunted" hotel, the friendiness of the few locals and its only church. St Albans was prefabricated in England and erected in 1883, a gift of Captain F G Dalgety, founder of a prominent stock and station agency and owner of "Hawkdun" a large sheep station near St. Bathans.
Find St Alban's just up the road from the pub - an unlocked, corrugated iron building on a hill.
Scheduled Worship: Third Sunday of the month, 11.00 am (can vary - check it out)
Local Contact: Colin and Gilliant McKnight, RD2, Omakau, Tel 03 447 3690. Also Sharon Hinds at the Old Post Office near the church.
