Anglican Diocese of Dunedin, New Zealand

St James',Roxburgh

Roxburgh (pop. about 750) on State HIghway 8, two hours from either Dunedin or Invercargill, half an hour from Alexandra, is the main township of the Teviot Valley. This is gentle fruit-growing land on the valley floors, rising to high tussock grazing in the surrounding hills. St James', built of local schist in 1872, is the region's oldest Anglican church. There was a Roxburgh-based vicar until 1973. Priestly ministry has since then been from Alexandra.

Find St James' on the corner of Scotland (the main street) and Jedburgh Streets.
