Anglican Diocese of Dunedin, New Zealand

St Michael & All Angels, Clyde

Back in the "good old days," Clyde (then known as Dunstan) was the county seat. St Michael's was the "mother church" for the region. Nowadays, Clyde (only 10km to the north) has the nature of a small, quiet, charming dormitory suburb of Alexandra. New Zealand's biggest hydro-electric dam is nearby. St. Michael's replaced an 1863 building in 1877. A near-repica of St James', Roxburgh, it is of local schist and has a special ambience as a place of prayer. A small church hall has on occasion served as accommodation for holidaying clergy families.

Find St Michael's on Matau Street, west side of town, opposite the war memorial.

Scheduled Worship: 2nd and 4th Sundays of month, 9.30am (may change - check)
