Diocese of Dunedin covers the provinces of Otago and Southland in the
lower South Island of New Zealand. It includes about thirty
parishes as well as social service agencies in Dunedin and
Invercargill, rest homes, a psycho-geriatric hospital, a
girls' school and a University hall of residence. Please follow the links on the left to find out more about the Diocese of Dunedin. If you're new to the Diocese or the Anglican Church, About Us contains more information about the Diocese, and a link to our Beginner's Guide to the Anglican Church. If you're looking for an Anglican church in your area, go to the Parishes page. To find out about the other organisations associated with the Diocese, see the Programmes & Organisations page. The News page has more information about what's going on in the Diocese, as well as a link to a calendar of Diocesan events. What's Happening in the Diocese? Back to Church Sunday - 12th September 2010 Back to Church Sunday is an initiative that began in the Diocese of Manchester in 2004. It's based on the idea that many people - those who have never been church-goers, or those who have drifted away - would consider going to church if they received a personal invitation from a friend. Parishioners are encouraged to invite someone to come along, and the parishes taking part will make a special effort to be welcoming. Click here for more information, including a short history of Back to Church Sunday and also a Welcome Audit to help parishes prepare for the event. Or click here to visit the national Back to Church Sunday website. New Online Preaching Forum There's a new blog site where people from around the Diocese can share their thoughts on the readings for approaching services. The site's address is http://wordthisweek.wordpress.com/. You're invited to take part in the discussions. It's easy to get involved - just click on "comment" to add suggestions or useful links. Ninth Bishop of Dunedin Ordained Dr Kelvin Wright, recently vicar of the Dunedin parish of St John's Roslyn, was ordained and installed as the ninth Bishop of Dunedin at St Paul's Cathedral on Saturday the 27th of February 2010. See our News page for more information. A recording of the sermon from the ordination can be found in our new Sermon Archive. Website upgrade This website is being refurbished.
